Banjo Pricing

I would love to give SBC banjos away for free, but building banjos is pricey. Also, my time for cutting, gluing, bending, lathing, rasping, sanding, measuring, fretting, sanding, inlaying, sanding, finishing, and branding has to account for something. Therefore, I have a floating price scale, based in the following criteria:

  • Hardware type (price) and configuration
  • Tone Ring selection
  • Wood type (generally not a big factor unless you want funky, exotic, or curly/figured wood)
  • Rim - Block vs 2-ply
  • Detailed inlay patterns/designs

My goal is to keep pricing to range between $600.00 and $900.00 (2020 pricing).

Price factors include:

  • Alternate components (tone rings, tuners, tailpiece, etc)
  • Custom Fretboards
  • Complex inlays - To be discussed
  • Shipping extra – Paid by the buyer
  • Shipping Insurance – Applied on all banjos – added to shipping cost
  • Case – Hard shell or soft shell – At cost (Note: listed prices for stock banjos do not include case).

All SBC banjos will be shipped using UPS, FedEx, or US Mail. Upon shipment, I will email the buyer the tracking number.

Ok, now the unfortunate part of business……………
